Local Beaches

July is here, the school holidays are just around the corner, and we are officially in SUMMER (although sometimes we need to remind the weatherman)! Therefore, to keep you occupied we have complied a small list of local beaches, within an hour’s drive, to explore if you haven’t already! In no particular order -

1.    Lyme Regis Beach - Approximately 45 minutes away, Lyme Regis is a picturesque seaside town made up of 4 beaches to include both sandy and pebbled. With an aquarium, antique shop and arcade this beach has something for everyone.

2.    Exmouth Beach - Approximately 50 minutes away, Exmouth Beach is on a slightly larger scale to the typical seaside town and boasts 2 miles of sandy beach. Exmouth is a great location with ample things to do including boats trips, water sports, crazy golf, and other seasonal activities.

3.    Dawlish Warren Beach - Approximately an hour away, Dawlish is a sandy beach made up of sheltered sand dunes and family friendly attractions such as fair rides, an arcade, golf and water sports.

4.    Kilve Beach - Approximately 45 minutes away Kilve Beach is a pebble beach located in the heart of the Quantocks. Being fairly remote, Kilve is a quiet beach ideal for picnics or fossil hunting.

5.    St Audries Bay - Approximately 35 minutes away, St Audries is a scenic location at the foot of the Quantock Hills. Its unique selling point is the two waterfalls at the back of the beach that flow down the cliffs. The beach is a mix of sand, pebble and rock. Its worth noting that it can get muddy towards the sea and is a bit of a hike to get down to so may not be as attractive for families with young children.

6.    Weston-Super-Mare Beach - Approximately 35 minutes away, this a large sandy beach with pier and promenade stretching nearly 2 miles. Although not the best of the options for swimming, the beach has plenty of things to do to include donkey rides, amusement arcade and several eateries.
